The prize was launched to support new writers, without limits of age, sex, nationality or background. A winner will be chosen by our star lineup of judges for each category: Fiction; Poetry; Writing of life. The three winners will be published by Wasafiri and receive a prize in cash. They will also be offered the Chapter and Verse Mentor or Free Readings mentoring scheme in association with The Literary Consultancy (depending on eligibility). The winners of the prize will be announced on October 25, 2018.

This year, our judges include Malika Booker, who will judge the poetry, Kerry Young, who will judge the fiction, and Elleke Boehmer, who will judge the writing category of life. The editor-in-chief of Wasafiri, Susheila Nasta, will preside over the jury.
