DBAR is an international research program to promote cooperation with countries on the “Belt and Road” route to defend and demonstrate the intelligent use and application of “Big Earth Data” in support of the sustainable development of people and economies at the international level. local, national and regional. “Disaster management” is one of the key pillars of sustainable development in the DBAR, along with the management of the coastal zone, agriculture and food security, environmental changes, urban development and heritage conservation.
In response to the needs of developing countries along Belt and Road in disaster risk reduction to address the natural and anthropogenic environmental disaster, DBR, together with the Office of the International Integrated Research Program on Disaster Risk ( IRDR) (IPO), IRDR China National Committee (IRDR CHINA), Remote Sensing and Digital Earth Institute (RADI), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence in Space Technology for Disaster Mitigation (SDIM) an international research program (DBAR-Disaster) to strengthen scientific capacities for sustainable development and disaster risk reduction. In 2018, we will organize the International Training Workshop on Big Earth Data for Disaster Risk Reduction. With the aim of strengthening the experience of Big Earth Data applications for DRR, and improving the use of various data in the DRR applications platform. The workshop will provide a scientific and practical guide on DRR to participants from developing countries along Belt and Road.
Applicants who have been selected will be provided with international roundtrip air tickets between their countries of origin and Beijing (economy class), and local expenses such as food and lodging, excursions, local transportation, etc. during the workshop.
They will be able to participate:
- Young scholars and researchers in the field of disaster risk reduction
- Young practitioners of national / local governments and civil society organizations
As the number is limited to 20 people, only those who are qualified can be selected as formal participants. Female applicants will have priority.
